Doerrman (Retired), 83, died peacefully Wednesday, April 28, 2010, of natural causes at Reading Hospital, surrounded by his family. He was the husband of Beatrice R. (Donkel) Doerrman. They recently celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary. His first wife, Betty J. (Bachman) Doerrman died on January 9, 1978. Mr. Doerrman was born in Reading, on June 17, 1926, he was the son of the late Adolph M. 'Jack' and Miriam A. (Fisher) Doerrman. He was a 1944 graduate of Wilson High School, attended the Wyomissing Polytechnical Institute, and later graduated from the University of Maryland in 1968. Richard served in the United States Army for 23 and a half years during WWII, the Korean War, and the Vietnam Conflict, retiring from the Medical Services Corp as Major. After retiring he was the Muhlenberg Township Health Inspector for 18 years. He was a member of Immanuel U.C.C., Shillington. He was a 50 year member of Williamson Lodge #307 F.&A.M., Womelsdorf, Captain of the Legion of Honor, an active member of the Rajah Shrine Club where he served as President in 2001, and a member of the Schuylkill Shrine Club. He was also a member of the Sinking Spring V.F.W. and the American Legion. He was a longtime member of Green Valley Country Club and the West Wyomissing Fire Company. He played baseball with local teams and was an avid golfer. He was also a member of the Wilson School Board, having served 2 terms. He and his wife enjoyed many cruises to Bermuda and vacations to the shore and the mountains. In addition to his wife he is survived by a daughter, Cheryl J. wife of Michael Ebert, South Heidelberg Twp.; three stepdaughters, Donna R. wife of Andrew Pichini, South Heidelberg Twp.; Michele A. wife of William Radomski, Hatfield,; and Mary Ellen wife of Stephen Haley, Sinking Spring; a stepson, Steven M. Ronco husband of Terry, Reading; five grandchildren, Lauren, Danessa, Kellsey, Andrew, and Dylan.; four stepgrandchildren, William, Rachael, Zackary, and Alissa; and one greatgrandson, John. He was also predeceased by his daughter, KaAnn MaxwellDoerrman who died on December 28, 2009. Services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Lamm & Witman Funeral Home, Inc., Wernersville. Interment at Sinking Spring Cemetery. Friends are invited to call Saturday 9:30 to 11 a.m. at the Funeral Home with Masonic Services being conducted by the Williamson Lodge at 10 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made in Richard's memory to the Shriners Hospital for Children, 3551 N.
