  Joseph W. Fauber 
   
  Joseph W. Fauber MANHEIM Joseph W. Fauber, 89, went home to be with the Lord 
  following a brief illness on Tuesday, January 19, 2010, at Pleasant View 
  Retirement Community. He was the loving husband of Margaret B. 'Peg' Boyd 
  Fauber, who died in 2005. Born in Lebanon, he was the son of the late Wilmer H. 
  and Carrie M. Beckley Fauber. For twenty-five years he was the owner of Joseph 
  W. Fauber Public Accounting Office located in Manheim, retiring in 1982. 
  Previously he was extensively involved in music education as the Manheim 
  Central School District Band Director, and was an instrumental music teacher 
  for Xavier University in New Orleans, Louisiana, and for the Lebanon School 
  District. Joe served in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II as 
  a First Lieutenant Navigator with the B-24 Liberator Bomb Group know as 
  the 'Flying Tigers'. During his military service he was awarded: the 
  Distinguished Flying Cross with Oak Leaf Cluster, Air Medal with Oak Leaf 
  Cluster, the Philippine Liberation Ribbon, and the Asiatic Pacific Theater 
  Ribbon with Three Bronze Stars for his service with air campaigns in China, 
  Southern Philippines and the Western Pacific during the war. He was a member of 
  St. Paul's United Church Of Christ Manheim. Joe received a Bachelor of Science 
  Degree in Music Education from Lebanon Valley College and a Masters in Arts 
  Degree from Columbia University; he continued his education with a degree in 
  Higher Accounting from La Salle University. He served on the Financial Advisory 
  Board for the former Harris Savings Bank Manheim and for the Fulton Bank 
  Manheim Advisory Board. For thirteen years Joe served as the Treasurer for the 
  Manheim Community Farm Show Association and was Secretary for the Board of 
  Managers for the Danner Home Manheim for twentyfive years. He was a member of 
  the Manheim Historical Association and the Manheim Lions Club where he had 
  served as President. Joe also volunteered with meals on wheels for the Manheim 
  area. He enjoyed playing the tuba for various band and instrumental groups in 
  Lancaster County throughout the years. Surviving are two daughters, Stephanie 
  J. Fauber of Santa Fe, N.M., and Kathleen F., wife of Richard J. Witmer of 
  Waldorf, Md.; two grandsons, Sean Christopher, husband of Kathleen E. Witmer, 
  and Stephen Michael, husband of Lisa A. Witmer; and three great-grandchildren, 
  Lauren Emily Witmer, Caroline Ainsley Witmer, and Samantha Hope Witmer. He was 
  preceded in death by a great-granddaughter, Rachel Margaret Witmer; and a 
  brother, Earl B. Fauber. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to 
  attend his memorial services from the Hoffer Auditorium at Pleasant View 
  Retirement Community, 544 N. Penryn Road, Manheim on Saturday at 10 a.m. with 
  the Rev. William J. LaSalle and the Rev. Dr. James W. Bright Jr. officiating. 
  Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family in Indiantown 
  Gap National Cemetery Annville. Friends may visit with the family in the Hoffer 
  Auditorium on Saturday morning from 9 a.m. until the time of the service.
