Fees, 88, of Spang Crest Manor, died Wednesday, June 2, 2010, in the Manor. She was the wife of John D. "Red" Fees, with whom she celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary in May 2010. Born in Martinsburg, on April 10, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Avery O. and Fannie Stern Kanode. She was employed for 19 years by the AnnvilleCleona School District, retiring in 1989. Ruth was a graduate of Morrison Cove High School, Martinsburg, attended Messiah Junior College, and graduated from Juniata College in 1952. She was a member of Church of the Good Shepherd, United Methodist, Lebanon, and its United Methodist Women's Association. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, knitting, country living, raising standardbred horses, and reading. Surviving, in addition to her husband, are a son, Larry J. Fees of Garden Grove, Calif.; three daughters, Susan Carson of Williamsport, Sandra Fees, wife of Chris Fegley of Reading, and Sarah, wife of Scott Shank of Manheim; seven grandchildren; two great-grandsons; three sisters, Beulah Charles of Altadena, Calif., Lois, wife of Glenn Smith of Carlisle, and Alice Heisey of Elizabethtown; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Isaac, Arthur, and Avery Kanode; and a sister, Elizabeth Kanode. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. from the Church of the Good Shepherd, United Methodist, 1500 Quentin Road, Lebanon, PA 17042. Entombment will be in Grand View Memorial Park. Viewing will be held on Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. prior to the service. Contributions may be made to her church or the charity of your choice. Kreamer Funeral Home and Crematory, Annville, is in charge of arrangements.
