Marcus John Fretz, 79, passed away Friday, August 27, 2010, surrounded by his loving family at the M.S. Hershey Medical Center. He was predeceased by his wife, Beverly J. (Foster) Fretz in 2007. He was born Thursday, February 26, 1931, in Danville, to the late Preston J. and Lulu (Lindenmuth) Fretz. He was a U.S. Army and National Guard Veteran with 39 and 1/2 years of service, including Korea and Vietnam. He was a member of Salem UCC and later St. John's UCC, W. Hanover Lions Club, Odd Fellows of Shamokin, Life Member of the NRA. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, the beach, and spending time with his grandchildren. He is survived by two sons, Garry M. Fretz of Hummelstown, and Richard G. Fretz and wife, Susan of Piketown; a daughter, Robin C. Wise and husband, Randy of Palmyra; four grandchildren, Barbara and Angela Fretz, Jacob and Melanie Wise; a great-grandson, Skylar Wise. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. at Rothermel Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 25 W. Pine St., Palmyra, PA 17078, with Rev. Joel Risser officiating. Family and friends are invited for visitation from 9 a.m. until time of the service. Burial with full military honors will follow in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.
