Geiling, Jr., 86, died Thursday, January 14, 2010, in the M.S. Hershey Medical Center. He was born June 16, 1923, in Hershey, son of the late Austin, Sr. and Arnie (Clotfelter) Geiling. Austin attended Hershey High School and following graduation in 1941 enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. He served in the Pacific during World War II where he was wounded twice in the line of duty. Following active military service, Austin worked at Olmsted Air Force Base for 20 years before going to work for the Hershey Chocolate Company, where he retired in 1996. After retirement, as part of the Marine Corps League, Austin served as Paymaster for the Young Marines, served as President of the 4th Marine Division Association of World War II, and as part of the Marine Corps Reserves, worked actively for Toys-For-Tots. He was a recipient of the President's Volunteer Service Award. Austin was an active member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Hershey, where he served on the church council and as a teacher and choir member. He was also a member of the Order of The Purple Heart, and a Past Master of the Brownstone Masonic Lodge #666. Surviving are his wife of 64 years, Janice (Stahl) Geiling; and three children, Bobbie Brehm (married to Ron Brehm of Palmyra), Doug, who resides in Fairfield, Conn., with his wife, Kathy, and their three children, and Lee, who resides in Fort Wayne, Ind., with his wife Nancy. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Funeral service will be held on Monday, January 18, 2010, at 11 a.m. in the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 212 Cocoa Ave., Hershey. A visitation will be held one hour prior to service. Private interment with military honors will be in the Indiantown Gap National Cemetery on Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorial contributions be made to either All Saints Fund of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Hershey; or Capital Area Young Marines, 101 N. Umberland St., Middletown, PA 17057. Hoover Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc. of Hershey is handling the arrangements.
