Gerber MCALISTERVILLE Joshua Matthew Gerber, 28, passed away suddenly Tuesday, March 2, 2010, in Snyder County. Josh was born in Lebanon, on June 19, 1981. He was an employee of SCS Express, Palmyra, where he worked as an independent contractor. He was a 2000 graduate of Ephrata High School and an exemplary honor student graduating from Mt. Joy School of Technology where he studied mechanics and tool making. Josh attended St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, Derry Twp. Throughout his life he was extremely involved and passionate about church and his relationship with God, involved in youth group and ministry. He was a member of the Young Marines while he attended school. Josh also lived to hunt and fish, especially when he bagged his first buck with his Grandpa at the Dutchman Hunting and Fishing Camp in Tioga County. He was a true nature and animal lover; he greatly enjoyed taking care of the animals on his farm. Josh never took life for granted and made sure that his wife, daughters, and all of his family knew how much he loved them. Josh is survived by his wife, whom he married on June 28, 2008, Heather Star Miller Gerber; two daughters, Payge V. Miller and Karly M. Morio, both at home; father, Dennis A. Gerber, husband of Lisa A.; his mother, Teressa "Tess" E. Carpenter Hartsough, companion of James C. Wright, Sr.; one brother, Adam K. Hartsough; two sisters, Sarah E. Cranford and her daughter, Kimber Zerbe, and Katherine E. Hartsough; one stepbrother, Lee A. Randler, husband of Rachel and their daughter, Kearsten; paternal grandparents, Carl A. and Gloria S. Albert Gerber, Sr.; maternal grandparents, Glenn R. and Katherine M. Seubert Carpenter; father- inlaw, Ted M. Miller; grandmother-in-law, Betty L. Miller; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins; his Waldeck Warriors, and many friends. Josh will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him. He was preceded in death by his uncle, Christopher Carpenter. Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. in the St Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, 850 Hill Church Road, Hummelstown, with The Rev. George M. Minick, his pastor, officiating. Interment will be in the Sand Hill Church Cemetery, Hummelstown. Viewings will be held Thursday in the Trefz & Bowser Funeral Home, Inc., 114 W. Main St., Hummelstown, and Friday in the church's narthex from 10 a.m. until time of the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent in Josh's memory to his wife and daughters, 1607 Dunn Valley Road, McAlisterville, PA 17049.
