Gerhart, 90, Formerly of Womelsdorf, died Monday, December 6, 2010, of natural causes in Berks Heim. He was predeceased by his wife, Mabel E. (Troutman) Gerhart in 1987. Born August 16, 1920, in Bethel Twp., he was the son of the late George W. and Stella (Harnish) Gerhart. Gerhart was a member of St. John's (Host) Church where he was an active member of the Sunday School, serving as superintendent and an adult class teacher for many years. He also served as a director of the PA S.E. Conference (1971) and was nominated twice as a delegate to the National Synod. In 1983 he received a certificate of status as a lay minister. Gerhart was a dairy farmer and in 1955 he received the outstanding young farmer award from the Chamber of Commerce. He was also active in numerous farm and fraternal organizations. He is survived by two daughters, Faye A., wife of John Adams, Fleetwood, and Joyce E., wife of Gerald Thren, Hamburg; one brother, Jacob Gerhart, Myerstown; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. from St. John's (Host) Church, 36 Host Church Road, Bernville, PA 19506. Interment will follow in the adjoining cemetery. Friends may call Saturday from 10 a.m. until time of service at the church. The Hetrick-Mull Funeral Home, Inc., Womelsdorf is in charge of arrangements.
