Gilbert 57, passed away on Tuesday, January 26, 2010, at Manor Care Health Service. She was the wife of Lester E. Gilbert and on February 3, 2010, would have celebrated their 32nd wedding anniversary. Gayle was known as 'Dolly' by her family. Born in Shenandoah on October 28, 1952, she was the daughter of the late Tom and Arlene Dettery Stravinsky. She was an instructional aide for Northern Lebanon School District. Gayle was a 1974 graduate of Penn State University. While in college she was the starting pitcher for the women's softball team in 1973 and 1974. In 1974 the team went 17-0 their team was credited with starting the winning tradition for Penn State women's softball. She was a member of Zion's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Jonestown. In addition to her husband she is survived by a son, Matt Gilbert and his fianc", Megan Hartman of Lebanon; four brothers, Bob husband of Mel Stravinsky of Ringtown, Dale husband of Deb Stravinsky of Zion Grove, Tom husband of Diane Stravinsky of Zion Grove and Paul husband of Rosy Stravinsky of Ringtown: a sister, Donna wife of Mike Mayfield of Ringtown; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother, John Stravinsky. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday at 11:30 a.m. at the Zion's Evangelical Lutheran Church 103 E. Market St., Jonestown PA 17038. Visitation will be from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at the church. Inurnment will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the church or a charity of your choice. Kreamer & Lum Funeral Home & Crematory, are in charge of the arrangements.
