Ginder HERSHEY Clarence Edward Ginder, 85, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on Tuesday, June 29, 2010, at Spring Creek Rehabilitation and Health Center in Harrisburg. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Pauline (Rittle) Ginder. He was born Tuesday, May 26, 1925, in Derry Township, to the late Clayton and Olive (Nornold) Ginder. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy and served during WWII. He retired from the Hershey Chocolate Company after 44 years working in the machine shop. He was a member of Palmyra First E.C. Church, Chocolate Workers Local 464, and enjoyed collecting matchbook covers. He is survived by two daughters, Donna E. Backenstoes and husband, Ralph of Annville, and Jane G. Swims and husband, Douglas of Hummelstown; a son, Dale E. Ginder and wife, Linda of Elizabethtown; five grandchildren, Amy Backenstoes of Palmyra, Gregory Backenstoes of Annville, Christopher Ginder and Cassandra Ginder of Elizabethtown, and Maya Swims of Hummelstown. He was predeceased by an infant sister, Pauline; and two brothers, Levi and Herman Ginder. Funeral services will be held Friday at 1 p.m. at Palmyra First E.C. Church, W. Main and College Sts., Palmyra, 17078 with the Rev. Jan R. Fryer officiating. Family and friends are invited for viewing at the church on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Friday from noon until time of the service. Burial with full military honors will follow in Grandview Memorial Park, Annville. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his honor to his church or the American Diabetes Association , 3544 N. Progress Ave., Suite 101, Harrisburg, PA 17110. Rothermel Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 25 W. Pine St., Palmyra, has been entrusted with the arrangements.
