Grem M.D. HARRISBURG Philip Charles Grem, 59, died suddenly and unexpectedly on Monday, July 5, 2010. Born in Chicago, Ill., on August 1, 1950, to Francis and June Grem, he moved to Harrisburg after finishing medical school and marrying his wife of 35 years, Judith Fonken. They have three sons together, Michael, Timothy, and Kevin. He has three living sisters, Ann Bregent, Marsha Lopez Grollinger, and Jean Grem. Phil was a unique and amazing man who was loved by all. He was a man of integrity who was honest, trustworthy, and honorable. Working in the medical profession, he was a diligent and caring doctor who was respected by his fellow physicians and adored by his patients. For many years, he cared for the health needs of the mentally ill. Phil had many interests which ranged from basketball to chess, playing cards to telling jokes. He was an intelligent and wellread individual who was always good for conversation, full of insight, and often times humorous remarks. He was a peaceful and gentle man who wanted little more out of life but to spend good times with friends and family and to live life happily. A memorial service will be held on Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Hoover Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc., 6011 Linglestown Road, Harrisburg. The Rev. Dr. Donald C. Wetzel, officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1 p.m. prior to the service. The funeral home can be accessed from 39 West or by Mountain Road, and turning right onto Raspberry Lane, to parking area on left.
