M. shabodeho@aol.com October 21, 2010, 12:11 pm Published in Lebanon Daily News on October 19, 2010 Delores Mae Groff LEBANON Delores Mae Groff, 74, left us to join the Lord on Wednesday, October 13, 2010, after a prolonged battle with heart disease, diabetes, lupus, kidney malfunction, anemia and fibromialgia. She was the daughter of the late William A. Sourwine and Eleana Rittle and sister of the late William Sourwine and Robert Sourwine. Delores is survived by the love of her life, Leroy Souders; daughters, Catherine Meluccio, Lenina McCord and Maria Miller; as well as seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and siblings, Elaine Krah, Celia Meyers and Arthur Sourwine. Also surviving are the too-many-to-list who Delores loved as her own children throughout her life. As a single mom, Delores met all of her life challenges with zeal and grace. Her best advice was always to do the best you can and leave the rest to the Lord. Delores was very proud of instilling her values of honesty, strength and independence in her daughters and, once they were grown, stepped in as "Mom" to many who were not lucky enough to have her by birth. Born a proud American, Delores served her country in the U.S. Air Force from 1954 to 1956 and continued to be a supporter of the American Legion throughout her life. Retired from San Giorgio Macaroni Company, she worked long and hard hours for many years progressing from factory worker to professional as she joined and remained a lifelong member of the American Business Women's Association. Always a giving person, Delores was a staunch supporter of many charities even when she had little to share. Specifically, organizations concerned with the welfare of American Indian children and animal rights were always close to her heart. Delores' life will be celebrated at St. Mary's Church, 2 N 8th St., Lebanon, on Saturday at 12 p.m. Interment will immediately follow at Grandview Memorial Park Annville, 500 N Weber Street, Lebanon. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the charity of your choice with Delores in your thoughts and heart.
