Hibshman, 59, died April 5, 2010, of natural causes at his residence. He was the husband of Patricia A. (Witman) Hibshman. Born in Myerstown he was the son of Sally A. (Netzley) Hibshman, of Myerstown and the late Charles R. Hibshman. Larry graduated from Elco High School in 1968 with an outstanding athletic career which included 3 years Varsity baseball, 3 years Varsity soccer, and 2 years Varsity basketball. After graduating from West Chester University in 1972, Larry began a life long love of soccer, playing and coaching for the Schaefferstown and Heidelberg Soccer Clubs, including 9 championship teams and 4 runner-up teams. In 1985 Larry joined an over 30 team in Harrisburg where in 18 seasons there were 15 league championships and 3 runner-up finishes, highlighted by a streak of 105 wins and no defeats. Larry was also extensively involved with youth coaching for the Richland and Newmanstown soccer clubs and for the many players who played on Elco State Championship teams in 1998 and 2003. He played in more than 10 international matches, including a 1979 tour of Germany with the Schaefferstown Soccer Barons. He always felt he got more from sports than he gave, including a group of life long friends. He was employed by the U.S. Postal Service in Wernersville as a letter carrier for 31 years. He was also a member of the Army National Guard from 19721978. In addition to his wife and mother he is survived by a son, Andrew L. Hibshman husband of Jennifer, Union City, N.J.; a daughter, Laura M. wife of David C. Hartlaub, Talmage; a step son, Keith A. Harnish, South Heidelburg Twp.; a step daughter, Marci J. Christian, Wernersville; four brothers, Charles R. Hibshman, Annville, Richard I. Hibshman, Virginia, Kenneth J. Hibshman, Myerstown, and Donald J. Hibshman, New Holland; also three grandchildren, Jayden, Adelyn, and Delaney Hartlaub; and four step grandchildren, Austin, Rachel, Hailey, and Connor. He was also predeceased by a sister, Sandra F. Dubble Services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Lamm & Witman Funeral Home, Wernersville, with Pastor Herb Hibshman, Jr. officiating. Friends are invited to call Wednesday 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment is in Hain's Church Cemetery, Wernersville.
