Hoffer, 85, passed away on Thursday, November 25, 2010, at Twin Oaks Nursing Home in Campbelltown. He was born Thursday, June 25, 1925, in Palmyra, to the late Paul and Grace (Summers) Hoffer. He was a U.S. Army Veteran, served during WWII, retired as a warehouseman from Middletown Depot in 1961, and later worked as a carpenter for Harry F. McCurdy & Sons Builders. He was a member of Palmyra Church of the Brethren, Palmyra American Legion Post #72, Hershey VFW Post #3502, Middletown LOOM Lodge #410, Palmyra Sportsman's Club, and Hershey Italian Lodge. He is survived by a daughter, Barbara Eyster and husband, Daniel of Lititz; two sons, Donald L. Hoffer and wife, Amy of Lebanon, and Ronald R. Hoffer and wife, Donna of Lebanon; nine grandchildren, Susan, James, Ashley, Josh, Maddy, Sophie, Olivia, Isaac, and Micah; two great- grandchildren, Kaylynn and Johnathan; and one sister, Doris McCurdy and husband, Harry of Annville. He was predeceased by an infant daughter and a sister, Ruth Reigle. Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 2, 2010, at 10 a.m. at Rothermel Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 25 W. Pine St., Palmyra, 17078 with Pastor Howard Hess officiating. Family and friends are invited for viewing on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday from 9 a.m. until time of the service.
