HOFFMAN, U.S. Air Force ANNVILLE Colonel (Ret) Charles Edwin Hoffman, U.S. Air Force, 91, passed away on Thursday, October 21, 2010. He is survived by his loving wife Patricia Ann (Myers) Hoffman. He was born Friday, November 29, 1918, in Halifax to the late Harry B. and Myrtle O. (Gutshall) Hoffman. He is survived by a son, Barton Rhodes Hoffman of Roswell, N.M. He was predeceased by six brothers and five sisters. He retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1973, having served during WWII, Korea, and Vietnam Wars. His last assignment was serving as a Civil Engineer at McChord AFB in Tacoma, Wash. Following his faithful and loyal service to his country, he worked as Director of Community Development in Fayettville, Ark., until 1978. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Hershey, was an avid historian and lectured on many related topics. He was a member of Susquehanna Lodge, No. 364 F&AM, Harrisburg Scottish Rite, Zembo Temple Harrisburg, Hershey Symphony Orchestra Foundation where he served as President from 1988 to 1997, Palmyra Rotary, Paul Harris Fellow, Air Force Association, Retired Officers Association, TROA Arlington, Va. He was an avid golfer, woodworker, and hobbyist. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at First United Methodist Church of Hershey, 64 W. Chocolate Ave., Hershey, with Reverend Karen Atanasoff officiating. Masonic Services by Susquehanna Lodge No. 364 will precede the funeral services. Family and friends are invited for visitation from 9 a.m. until time of the service. Burial with full military honors will follow in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. Rothermel Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 25 W. Pine St., Palmyra has been entrusted with the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his honor to Hershey Symphony Orchestra, P.O. Box 93, Hershey, PA 17033.
