Hollister, 90, passed away Monday, November 15, 2010, at the VA Medical Center. He was the husband of the late Catharine Louise Tice Hollister, who died September 9, 1969. Born in Lancaster County, he was the son of the late John Hollister and Carrie Arndt Hollister Rintz. He was a retired miner at the Cornwall Ore Mines and was instrumental in forming the annual Miners Reunion held every June since 1983. Cy played a major role in the casting and placement of the bronze miner statue currently placed on the grounds of the Cornwall Elementary School. He also helped with the memorial plaque located at the Cornwall Iron Furnace. Serving from 1938-1945 in the U.S. Navy with active duty during World War II, he reached the rank of Chief Gunner's Mate while on the U.S.S. Jouett, U.S.S. Santa Fe, and the U.S.S. Sarsfield. Cy is survived by three children, James A. Hollister, fiancee of Kathy Miller, Bethlehem; Anita L., wife of Jack Miller, Lebanon; and Susan M. Hollister, Tacoma, Wash.; three grandchildren, Timothy M. Miller, Wendy (Miller) Burress, and Adrianne Lindeman; as well as five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by all his brothers and sisters. Funeral Services are private at the convenience of the family. Thompson Funeral Home, Inc., Lebanon, is in charge of the arrangements.
