Jones died on Wednesday, October 13, 2010, at her home in Newark. She was born in 1928 in Glen Rock, the daughter of Alvin and Claudia Rohrbaugh. After graduating from high school in Harrisburg, she subsequently graduated from Lebanon Valley College, where she was a pre-med student. In 1955 she received her M.D. from Temple University School of Medicine. Following that she had an internship and residency in Harrisburg. While her husband was in active duty with the Air Force at Chennalt AFB in Lake Charles, La., she served as a civilian physician in the same hospital. In 1961 she became a member of the medical staff at Wilmington, Del., VA Hospital, a position she retained until 1990. The following year she started serving on the medical staff of Cokesbury Retirement Community until her retirement in 1998. Charlotte was an active member for 50 years of St. Philip's Lutheran Church in Wilmington, Del., the Medical Society of Delaware, American Medical Women's Association, and Academy of Life Long Learning of University of Delaware. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Dr. William G. Jones; son, Rev. Steven Jones, and daughter-in-law, Linda Jones of Landisville; daughter, Debra Jones, and son-in-law, James Peterson of Hartland, Vt.;, granddaughter, Lisa Lauria and family of Palo Alto, Calif.; and beloved pet, Lester. She was a patient of Compassionate Care Hospice of Wilmington from December 2009 until her death. Charlotte and her family extend special thanks to this group and especially to Dr. Nancy Lasson and Theresa Richmond, RN. Friends may call on Monday, October 18, 10 to 11 a.m. at St. Philip's Lutheran Church, 4501 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington, DE, 19808. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Philip's Lutheran Church.
