Keener PALMYRA Helen Jane (Kline) Keener, 95, passed away Wednesday, December 1, 2010, at The Good Samaritan Hospital in Lebanon. She was predeceased by her husband, Roy S. Keener, in 1986. She was born Thursday, August 12, 1915, in Manassas, Va., to the late William and Virtie (Shifflet) Kline. She worked in the fitting department at W.L. Kreider Shoe Factory for 20 years, and at Hershey Chocolate Factory making Army Bars for three years. She was a member of Palmyra Church of the Brethren, Friendship SS class, lifetime LVBH women's auxiliary, Palmyra senior citizens, and received the LVBH Volunteer Recipient Award for 1,494 hours of community service. She is survived by a daughter, Brenda J. Summers and husband, Theodore of Shippensburg; a son, Ronald E. Keener of Mesa, Ariz.; two grandchildren, Douglas Way and Kristin Bard, both of Chambersburg; and a great-granddaughter, Summer Bard. She was predeceased by eight siblings, Orpha Woodyard, Oscar Kline, David Kline, Nellie Summers, Edith Harpine, Olmer Kline, Walter Kline, and Marvin Kline. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 10 a.m. in the DiMatteo Worship Center of the Lebanon Valley Brethren Home, 1200 Grubb Road, Palmyra 17078 with the Rev. Dr. Wallace B. Landes, Jr. officiating. Family and friends are invited for visitation from 9 a.m. until time of the service. Burial will follow in Spring Creek Cemetery , Hershey. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her honor to Palmyra Church of the Brethren, 45 N. Chestnut St., Palmyra, PA 17078. Rothermel Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 25 W. Pine St., Palmyra, has been entrusted with the arrangements.
