Keeny, 83, passed away Wednesday, August 4, 2010, in Tremont Health & Rehab Center. Tremont. Born on June 17, 1927, in Pine Grove, he was a son of the late Sterling and Lillian Shollenberger Keeny. Richard was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Pine Grove. He was an Army veteran of WWII and the Korean Conflict. During WWII, he served with the HQ & Base Service Squadron 486th Army Service Group and received the Army of occupational Medal and the WWII Victory medal. During the Korean Conflict, Richard served with the HQ Co 167th Trans Tk Bn and received the Korean Service Medal with 3 bronze stars and the United Nations Service Medal. He was a member of Pine Grove V.F.W. Post 3432 and the Pine Grove American Legion Post 374. Richard worked as a Assistant Medical Operator for Lebanon Veteran's Administration Hospital. A son, Richard K. Keeny, Jr. preceded him in death. Richard is survived by his wife, Kathleen Noll Keeny; and nieces and nephews. Graveside services and interment will be held at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery on Monday, August 9, 2010, at 9:30 a.m. with Dr. Richard W. Schoenleber officiating. The procession to the cemetery will leave the H. L. Snyder Funeral Home, Inc., 139 S.
