Koch, 103, Cornwall Manor, died Friday, July 23, 2010, in the Lebanon Good Samaritan Hospital. He was the husband of the late Violet Berger Koch. He was born in Conshohocken on February 21, 1907, a son of the late Benjamin D. and Laura H. Shenk Koch. He was a 1925 graduate of Conshohocken High School and graduated from Dickinson College in 1929. He received his M.A. from Boston University and was a graduate of Boston University School of Theology. He received his Masters and Doctorate degrees in Sacred Theology from Temple University. He was ordained a United Methodist deacon in 1929 and an elder in 1932. He served in the Wyoming and Eastern Pennsylvania Conferences of the United Methodist Church until his retirement in 1972. Presently he was a member of the Church of the Good Shepherd in Lebanon. Dr. Koch served in the U.S. Army as a chaplain during WW2 in the North African and Italian theaters. He and his wife came to Cornwall Manor in 1979 and became active in the life of Cornwall Manor as volunteers. He also was a historian for the manor and was a lifemember of the Cornwall Manor Society. He served as treasurer for many years for the retired clergy of the Eastern PA Conference; and he was the author of a book which chronicled the history of all the churches in the former Philadelphia Conference. He was a member of the American Legion. He loved to travel and enjoyed photography. He is survived by a sister, Elizabeth S. Koch, Newton; nieces, Kay Gorman, Kensington, Md., Janet Heidi, R.I.; nephews, Robert Koch, Bethesda, Md., Charles Koch, Maplewood, N.J. He was preceded in death by brothers, Benjamin Koch and George Koch. Funeral services will be Thursday 1:30 p.m. in the Levi Zerr Chapel of Cornwall Manor. Interment will be made in Mt. Lebanon Cemetery. The Rohland Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
