Kuntz HERSHEY Charles Franklin Kuntz, 66, of Bachmanville Road, passed away Thursday, January 7, 2010, in the Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center. Born June 15, 1943, in Lebanon, he was a son of the late Earl B. and Henrietta (Brandt) Kuntz. Charlie retired in 2000 from Hershey Foods and other entrepreneurial endeavors. He was a member of Chocolate Workers Union Local 464 and the Campbelltown American Legion Post #831. His spirited drive led him into being a florist, a baker, and an electrical contractor. When his family began to grow, he dedicated his leadership qualities into supporting his children's activities. He was devoted to countless youth organizations as a baseball, football, and softball coach, including Conewago Baseball Assoc., The Fuzzy Few Organization, Lancaster Ice Hockey, Penn State Field Hockey, and Lower Dauphin High School, where he served as Football Booster Club president. He became a skilled videographer in an effort to support his children's interests and to assist the coaching staffs. He always seemed to know the best way to provide his talents whether in the forefront or behind the scenes. His wife and four children were clearly the most important people in his life. His dogs came a close second. He loved all animals, music, collecting "stuff," camping, and the serenity of the outdoors. Surviving are his wife of 47 years, Dolores J. (Brandt) Kuntz; children, Kirby, husband of Cerice Kuntz of Austin, Texas, Tracey Kuntz of Scottsdale, Ariz., Sharon, wife of Neil Herlocher of State College, and Brian Kuntz of Charlottesville, Va.; siblings, Laverne, wife of Deward Mitchell of Grantville, Earlene, wife of Carl Blouch of Annville, Faye, wife of Carl Thierwechter of Palmyra, Jean, wife of John Roach of Annville, and Timothy, husband of Isabelle Kuntz of Las Vegas, Nev.; seven grandchildren; and 14 nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Buse Funeral Home, 145 N. Grant St., Palmyra, followed by a celebration of his life at the Campbelltown Fire Hall (approximately 4 p.m.). Burial services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Shells Cemetery, Grantville. Memorial contributions may be made to your local Humane Society in memory of his love for animals.
