  Gloria K. Layser MYERSTOWN Gloria K. Layser, 73, died after a valiant fight 
  with cancer on Thursday, July 29, 2010, at the residence of her daughter in 
  Newmanstown. She was the wife of Gordon R. Layser, who died September 8, 2006. 
  Born in Jackson Twp., on December 5, 1936, she was the daughter of the late 
  Theodore H. and Elsie Q. (Billman) Manbeck. She was a 1954 graduate of Bethel 
  High School and a 1955 graduate of the Bryland Institute of Cosmetology, 
  Reading. Together with her husband, she owned and operated the former Layser 
  Jewelers, Myerstown, for many years. She was a member of the Mt. Aetna Bible 
  Church and enjoyed gardening. She is survived by daughters, Lorah, wife of 
  Andrew Carrie of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., and Danita, wife of Eric Phelps of 
  Newmanstown; grandsons, Skyler and Jordan, both of Newmanstown; sisters, Jeanne 
  G. Wilhelm of Muncy, and Kaye D., wife of Dr. David Speicher of Berwyn; and 
  several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by sisters, Patricia 
  Whitman in 1980 and Shirley Strauss in 1993. A memorial service will be held 
  Friday, August 6, 2010, at 4 p.m. from the Mt. Aetna Bible Church, 11 N. 
  Chestnut St., Mt. Aetna. There will be no viewing. Interment will be at the 
  convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be 
  made to Child Evangelism Fellowship, 637 Chestnut St., Lebanon, PA 17042. Grose 
  Funeral Home, Myerstown, is in charge of arrangements.
