He was the husband of Star M. (Warfield) Long, to whom he was married 36 years on May 11, 2010. Born in Lebanon, on April 3, 1950, he was the son of the late Russell E. and Myrle H. (Herb) Long. He was a 1968 graduate of Lebanon High School and received his Registered Nurse degree from Reading Area Community College. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. He had been a registered nurse for Bayada Nurses, Lancaster, and the Masonic Home, Elizabethtown. He was a member of New Beginnings-Grace Brethren Church, Myerstown, and was a member of several local gun clubs. In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughters, Heidi, wife of Mark Mears of Lebanon, April, wife of Daniel Snyder of Stouchsburg, and Melinda Williams of Stouchsburg; sons, Cory and Charles Long, both at home; five grandchildren; sisters, Shirley, wife of Ronald Stehman of Etters, Jean, wife of Ronald Armstrong of Campbelltown, Norma, wife of George Culbertson of Timonium, Md., and Charmaine Grant of Jacksonville, Fla.; brothers, Terrance, husband of Julie Long of Mt. Wilson, Ronald, husband of June Long of Lebanon, and Larry, husband of Nancy Long of Lutherville, Md.; and several nieces and nephews Funeral services will be held Monday, August 2, 2010, at 12 p.m. from New Beginnings-Grace Brethren Church, 430 E. Lincoln Ave., Myerstown. Viewing Monday at 10:30 a.m. at the church. Interment at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to "Children's Ministries" of New Beginnings-Grace Brethren Church, 430 E. Lincoln Ave., Myerstown, PA 17067. Grose Funeral Home, Myerstown, is in charge of arrangements.
