Long, 86, died Saturday, April 24, 2010, in the Hershey Medical Center. He was the husband of Stella F. Lam Long, to whom he was married to for over 65 years. Born in Lebanon on March 7, 1924, he was the son of the late Arthur Long and Ethel M. Becker Long and the step-son of the late Jacob H. Long. He was a mechanic with 44 years of service for the Hershey Company and a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII receiving three Bronze Stars. Harold was a 1941 graduate of Annville High School; a member of Zion Evangelical Congregational Church, Annville, Past Commander of the Annville American Legion Post 559, Della-Ches Fishing Association, Jonestown American Legion, Lebanon V.F.W. Post 23, and a lifetime charter member of the National WW II Memorial. He was a Lebanon VA Medical Center Volunteer, a former member of the Annville Union Hose Fire Co., and the Lebanon Navy Club. He also enjoyed Alaskan fishing trips and hunting. He was a sports enthusiast and fan of the Dallas Cowboys and the L.A. Dodgers. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a son, Ricky L. Long of Annville; a daughter, Sheila wife of Ronald Blackman of Cleona; a brother Jacob Long of Annville; three sisters, Marion Ercoli of Annville, Ruth wife of Robert Ruggles of Middletown, and Kathryn wife of Kenneth Wenger of Hamburg. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 1 p.m. from the Kreamer Funeral Home and Crematory, 618 E. Main St., Annville. Interment will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery with Full Military Honors. Viewing will held on Wednesday from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to your favorite charity.
