Long, 86, passed away on Saturday, March 6, 2010, at his home. He was the husband of Betty J. Seltzer Long. On June 15, 2010, they would have celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary. Born in Lebanon, on December 29, 1923, he was the son of the late Marshall and Miriam I. Smith Long Heiser and a stepson of the late Stuart Heiser. He retired in 1982 from Met-Ed, where he had been a supervisor for the Meter Reading Dept. He was a member of the Union Salem Evangelical Congregational Church, where he served as a Sunday School teacher for 50 years. For 22 years he was on the staff of the Lebanon Rescue Mission, and had been a member of the Lebanon Cedar Chorus. He had served as a Swatara Twp. Supervisor, a Lickdale Fire Co. fire policeman for 15 years, and for seven years he worked part time for the Hershey Park Police. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Valerie J., wife of John C. Zimmerman of Mt. Aetna; a brother, S. Joseph Heiser of Schaefferstown; grandchildren, John C. Zimmerman, II, Angela S., wife of Mike Boyarsky, Joseph C., husband of Kristin Zimmerman, Wayne "Casey" Long and Gisela, and Chad M., husband of Tammy Long; and four greatgrandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Wayne M. Long; a brother, Jack Long; and a sister, Phyllis Hilton. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the Kreamer & Lum Funeral Home & Crematory, Rt. 72 and Camp Meeting Road, Jonestown. Viewing will be held on Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be at the Grand View Memorial Park, N. Annville Twp.
