(Shomo) Longe, 72, passed away Monday, September 6, 2010, at the Altoona Regional Medical Center in Altoona. Born August 18, 1938, in Grassflat, Pa., she was the daughter of Paul Leroy 'Roy' and Pearl A. Shomo. Mrs. Longe was a homemaker. She was a member of the Goshen United Methodist Church and a life member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Shellsville, Pa. Mrs. Longe was an avid bingo player and enjoyed her trips to Atlantic City and Las Vegas. She was devoted to her family. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, and treasured the time she spent with her family and friends. Mrs. Longe is survived by her husband, Thomas F. Longe, whom she married on May 2, 1959, in Winchester, Va.; three children, Bernice A. 'Bernie' Showden and her husband, Robert of Goshen, Mary G. Brown and her husband, Arvard Brown of Campbelltown, and Kevin T. Longe of Karthaus; five grandchildren, Joseph B. Longe, Brandy S. Hoover and her husband, Scott, Jason Fraude, Brandon A. Longe, and Arvard M. Brown, Jr.; two great- grandchildren, Lincoln O. Hoover and Alexandria Fraude Schaffer; seven surviving siblings, Lola Hardin of Murfeesboro, Tenn., Carl Shomo and his wife, Patricia of Surveyor, Pa., June Juran and her husband, John of Palmyra, Joyce Valenza of Clearfield, Betty Wing of Clearfield, Helen Taylor and her husband, Barry of Bergen, N.Y., and Linda Ardary of Clearfield; sister-in-law, Sophie Glace of Dillsburg; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Cloyde, Paul, Phillip, and Lynn. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 18, 2010, at 11 a.m. at the Goshen United Methodist Church with Pastor Sue Arnold officiating. Friends will be received in the church from 10 a.m. until the hour of services. The Bennett and Houser Funeral Home, Inc. of Clearfield is in charge of arrangements. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Goshen United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 162, Shawville, PA 16873.
