Born in Cleona on June 4, 1922, John was a graduate of Lebanon High School and Lebanon Valley College. He served in the United States Army Air Corps during WWII as a B17 Mechanic and Waist Gunner. Following the war, he worked as an accountant, served as an auditor for Annville Township and as an officer in the Annville American Legion. He enjoyed traveling and spending time with his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Virginia Elnora (Avery); two sons, Thomas and Matthew and two grandchildren, Danielle and Steven. Visitation will be held in the Hoover Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., Hershey, on Monday, September 20, 2010, from 11 a.m. until 12 Noon. Interment service with military honors will immediately follow at the Fort Indiantown Gap National Cemetery at 1 p.m. Please omit flowers. Donations can be made to the Dyersburg Army Air Base Memorial Association at 100 Veterans Dr., Halls, TN 38040; or to a charity of choice.
