M. shabodeho@aol.com July 27, 2010, 6:21 pm Published in Lebanon Daily News on July 25, 2010 MaryAnn Lutz MaryAnn Lutz HUMMELSTOWN MaryAnne Shade Lutz, 68, passed away on Thursday, July 22, 2010, in the Penn State Hershey Medical Center surrounded by her loving family. MaryAnne was preceded in death by her husband, Robert W. Lutz, on July 25, 1991. Born in Harrisburg, on September 24, 1941, she was the daughter of Mary E. (Betty) Rupp Shade of Hummelstown and the late Harold Shade. MaryAnne was the Business Manager for R.W. Lutz properties. She was a very active member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Hummelstown, serving as a Treasurer of the Trustees and a volunteer for the church's Extended Hands and Promise Land. She held various offices in the United Methodist Women and was a member of Seniors Over Sixty. MaryAnne was a former driver for Meals on Wheels. She loved to read, travel, and experience new adventures. She enjoyed the musical theatre, but most of all she loved being at the shore and spending time with her family and friends. Although MaryAnne was a very active person, she was never too busy to help people in need. She is survived by one son, Robert J. Lutz, husband of Sharon L. of Hummelstown; two daughters, Barbara A. Eckenrod, wife of Fred A. of Gaffney, S.C., and Diane S. Grumbine, wife of Gary W. of Palmyra; seven grandchildren, Amber M. Eckenrod of Manassas, Va., MA3 Dustin M. Eckenrod, husband of Ashley of Rota, Spain, Brooke E. Lutz, husband of Amanda of Pine Grove, Aurora J. Lutz of Pine Grove, Joleen D. Lutz of Hummelstown, and Collin R.W. Grumbine and Braeden T. Grumbine, both of Palmyra; one greatgrandchild, Reese E. Lutz of Pine Grove; two sisters, Nancy Bucher, wife of Fred, and Sue E. Koch, both of Palmyra; two nieces, Christine Seabrook, wife of Matt of Maple Glenn, and Sarah Koch of Palmyra; and four nephews, MSGT Eric Bucher, husband of Jenny of Clarksville, Tenn., and David Koch, Tim Koch, and Andy Koch, all of Palmyra. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the Trinity United Methodist Church, 210 W. Main St., Hummelstown, with the Rev. Ellen Evans, her pastor, officiating. Interment will be in the Slate Hill Cemetery, Shiremanstown. Friends are invited to the viewings in the church Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service in the church. Trefz & Bowser Funeral Home, Inc., 114 W. Main St., Hummelstown, is handling the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions made to the Trinity United Methodist Church, 210 W.
