M. shabodeho@aol.com February 27, 2010, 8:39 pm Published in Lebanon Daily News on February 25, 2010 Eleanor Gray MacLean Eleanor Gray MacLean CORNWALL Eleanor Gray MacLean, 101, went home to be with the Lord on February 22, 2010. She was born Eleanor Louise Hanle on September 13, 1908 in Clifton, N.J., the third child of seven children born to Eleanor Heritage Hanle and John William Frederick Hanle. While growing up in Summit, N.J., she participated in many sports at Summit High School, including girls basketball and girls track and field. She was captain of both teams, and she held the record for the standing broad jump for many years (8'6"), which she jumped while a freshman. Following graduation from high school, Eleanor worked for Bell Telephone Labs in NYC. In 1933, she married Harold William Gray and moved to many different states because of his job as a salesman. Following his death, Eleanor moved back to New Jersey and worked for Bell Labs again, this time in Murray Hill, N.J. She was also a longtime member of Long Hill Chapel, in Chatham, N.J. Following her retirement, she married a widower, Ronald MacLean, and they moved to Cornwall Manor in 1990, where he died in 1995. Eleanor was a life-long fan of the NY Yankees and was continually upset that most of the games were not broadcast in this area. She was predeceased by both her husbands, along with both her children, David Hanle Gray and Judith Gray Mansell. Surviving are a brother, Robert A. Hanle of Lebanon; her daughter-in- law, Gail Ferry Gray of Tennessee; four grandchildren, Beth Mansell Button and Eric Mansell, both of California, Susan Gray Little and Danielle Gray of Tennessee. Also surviving are nine great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at the Cornwall Manor Chapel on Friday, March 5, 2010, at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to His Mansion Ministries, P.O.
