John Martin, 81, died Saturday, March 20, 2010, in the Fairmount Retirement Home, Wheat Ridge Drive, Ephrata. He was the husband of Mary S. Wenger Martin. He was born November 27, 1928, in Brecknock Township, Lancaster County, a son of the late Henry W. Z. and Leah Horning Martin. John was a retired farmer and a member of the Mountain View Mennonite Church of the Weaverland Conference. Surviving in addition to his wife are daughters, Erma, wife of Marvin Martin, Clyde, N.Y., Erla, wife of Edward Snyder, Manheim, Nancy, wife of John Frey, Annville, Betty, wife of Luke Shirk, Quarryville, Arlene, wife of Ivan Martin, Little Cedar, Iowa, Nora, wife of Rufus Nolt, Ephrata, Elva, wife of Ivan Ray Weaver, Osage, Iowa, and Fern, wife of Abe Hurst, Riceville, Iowa; sons, Stanley, husband of Lorraine Hoover Martin, Lititz, and Edwin Martin, Annville; 58 grandchildren; 47 greatgrandchildren; brothers, H. Moses, husband of Anna Martin, Lititz, H. Henry Martin, Lititz, Charles, husband of Laura Martin, Bethel, Ira, husband of Anna Mary Martin, East Earl, Paul, husband of Mildred Martin, Pine Grove, and Alvin, husband of Eva Martin, Rutledge, Mo.; sisters, Leah, wife of Levi Zimmerman, Paris, Mo., and Esther, wife of David High, Denver; sister-in-law, Verna Martin, Rutledge, Mo.; and brother-in-law, Clarence Eberly, Reinholds. He was preceded in death by brothers, Howard Martin and Mark Martin; sisters, Anna H. Martin and Elsie Eberly; three grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Funeral service will be held Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. from the Mountain View Mennonite Church, Butler Road, Lebanon. Interment will be made in the adjoining church cemetery. Friends may call Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Fairview Mennonite Reception Center, Jackson Road, Lebanon. Please Omit Flowers. Clauser Funeral Home, Inc. is handling the arrangements.
