Mazzocca, Jr., 63, passed away peacefully on Wednes day, June 2, 2010, at home with his loving family by his side. He was born Friday, January 3, 1947, in Rochester, Pa., to Agnes C. (Hartman) and the late Richard L. Mazzocca, Sr. He is survived by his loving wife, Marilyn Ann (Bauer) Mazzocca, to whom he was married 40 years. Also surviving are his mother, Agnes "Sweetie" Mazzocca; three children, Chad Mazzocca of Palmyra, Tara Hoover and husband, Andy of Camp Hill, and Scott Mazzocca and wife, Tobi of Palmyra; and six grandchildren, Tenisha, Nicholas, Dominic, Marinna, Hannah, and Alexandra. He was preceded in death by his sister, Marta Mazzocca. He lived a life of public service, showing his love of Palmyra and surrounding community daily. In addition to serving as Mayor of Palmyra, he was a member of Palmyra Borough Council as a 20 year member, and past President. He was a member of the HersheyPalmyra Sertoma Club, the Palmyra Lions Club, the Palmyra 250th Anniversary Celebration, and the Pennsylvania Association of Mayors. Past activities included the Palmyra Jaycees (former president), the Palmyra 225th Anniversary Committee, the Palmyra Churches Bowling League (former president), Council Member of The Church of the Holy Spirit, where he was a founding member of the Lenten Fish Fry, and both the Palmyra VFW and Legion Post 72. He was owner of The Strawberry Patch, a local business for 13 years, founder of Palmyrafest, deputy director of the Palmyra Emergency Management Agency, and former chairman of the Palmyra Holiday Parade. His family was a 17 year host family for the Big 33 Football Classic. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, June 7, 2010, at 10 a.m. at The Church of the Holy Spirit, 245 W. Pine St., Palmyra, 17078 with Father James F. Podlesny as celebrant. Burial will follow in Gravel Hill Cemetery. Family and friends are invited for viewing on Sunday from 5 to 9 p.m. at Rothermel Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 25 W. Pine St., Palmyra. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his honor to The Church of the Holy Spirit - Building Fund.
