  MYERSTOWN Robert R. McConnell, 92, formerly of Sinking Spring, died Friday, 
  October 22, 2010, at 2:23 p.m. in Stone Ridge Retirement Living at Poplar Run, 
  Myerstown, where he was a resident for 23 years. He was the husband of Mildred 
  E. (Wilhelm) McConnell, who died in 1982, and Christine (Peters) McConnell who 
  died in 1996. He was born in Lebanon, on December 8, 1917, a son of the late 
  Raymond W. and Esther J. (Underkoffler) McConnell. He graduated from Lebanon 
  High School in 1934 and from Wyomissing Poly in 1938. He was a Design and 
  Process Engineer for Wright Aeronautical Corp. in Patterson, N.J. from 1940-
  1949, operated Mac's Corner Grocery Store with his father in Lebanon from 1949-
  1955, and was a Design and Process Engineer for Textile Machine Works for 20 
  years retiring in 1976. He was a member of West Lawn UM church and St. Andew's 
  Presbyterian Church in Lebanon. He was a member of the choir and played the 
  piano and organ at West Lawn UM. He was the Founder and charter member of 
  Lincoln Park Swim Asso. in 1958, he established a sing-a-long group and played 
  organ and piano at Stone Ridge, and enjoyed woodworking, making furniture, 
  clocks and stained glass. He is survived by daughters, Kathleen C. wife of 
  Robert K. Diem of North Wales, Carol L. wife of Jan E. Maurits of Vancouver, 
  Washington; grandchildren, Scott Klopp, Rebecca Diem, Jeremy Diem; great-
  grandchildren, Kevin Klopp, Travis Klopp, Adeline Diem, Claire Diem; sister, 
  Pearl Jane Campbell of Lancaster; step son-in-law, Gary Wendt of Harrisburg; 
  step-granddaughter, Suzanne wife of Robert Mack of Newark, Del.; and step great-
  grandchildren, Andrew and Eric Mack. Preceded in death by his brother, Elwood 
  M. McConnell; and step-daughter Barbara Wendt in 1998. Memorial Service will be 
  held in Stone Ridge Retirement Living at Poplar Run Community, Room 440, E. 
  Lincoln Ave., Myerstown, PA, 17067, Saturday, November 6, 2010, at 1 p.m. Rev. 
  Steven Gribble and and Rev. Dana Logan officiating. Interment will be held at 
  the convenience of the family. The family will receive friends Saturday 12 to 1 
  pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Stone Ridge Retirement 
  Living at Poplar Run at above address or St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church 600 
  S. 12th St. Lebanon, PA 17042, in memory of Mr. Robert R. McConnell. Bean 
  Funeral Homes & Crematory, Sinking Spring is in charge of arrangements.
