Miller, 92, passed away Monday, December 20, 2010, at his daughter's home in Michigan. He was the husband of Mildred Wilhelm Miller, to whom he was married for 60 years. Born in Lebanon, on August 3, 1918, he was the son of the late Adam F. and Fannie Hertzler Miller. Ed practiced law in Lebanon for approximately 40 years, following his father and grandfather who were also attorneys in Lebanon. He was a graduate of Lebanon High School, the College of William and Mary, and the Dickinson School of Law. He served as a First Lieutenant with the U.S. Army during WWII. As a member and past president of the Lebanon Lions Club, Ed was honored by that club with the Melvin Jones Fellowship Award in 1997. He was a past president of the Lebanon County Bar Association and the Center of Lebanon Association. Ed served on the boards of the Salvation Army and the Mt. Lebanon Cemetery Association, as well as being a solicitor for the Lebanon School District. He was a member of Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church, Lebanon. He enjoyed boating, gardening, and photography. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are daughters, Elizabeth Holmes and Sally Miller, D.O., both of Michigan; and a grandson, Alexander Edward Holmes. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Ed's funeral service on Tuesday, December 28, 2010, at 1:30 p.m. at the Ruffner-Porterfield Funeral Directors and Cremation Services, 890 Isabel Drive (next to Quentin Circle), Lebanon, with the Rev. Dr. Roger A. Bucy officiating. Interment will be held in the Mt. Lebanon Cemetery, Lebanon. A visitation will be held at the funeral home on Monday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial remembrances may be made to the Lebanon Lions Club, P.O. Box 17, Lebanon, PA 17042; or the American Cancer Society , 526 Cumberland St., Lebanon, PA 17042.
