Nagle, Sr., 93, passed away Monday, April 12, 2010, of natural causes at Reading Hospital & Medical Center. He was the husband of Kathryn E. (Root) Nagle, with whom he shared 67 years of marriage. Born on January 3, 1917, in Schoeneck, Lancaster County, he was the son of the late Adam S. and Annie G. (Hertzog) Nagle. Dr. Nagle graduated from Ephrata High School in 1935 and from Moravian College in Bethlehem, where he received his undergraduate degree in 1939. He then pursued a career in medicine, graduating from the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia in 1943, and serving his residency at St. Joseph's Hospital in Lancaster from 1943 to 1945. From 1945 through 1947, Dr. Nagle was a Captain in the U.S. Army Medical Corps, having served in WWII. In June 1947, he started a private medical practice in the former office of Dr. Edwin Z. Ruth in Stouchsburg. There he continued to administer to the medical needs of that village and the surrounding area for numerous years. As his practice grew, he was joined by Dr. John E. Marshall. In 1971 Dr. Brian A. Wummer joined the practice. They formed the Conrad Weiser Medical Group and moved to their "new" medical clinic at the Eastern entrance to Womelsdorf on the Conrad Weiser Parkway (route 422). Dr. Nagle was past president of the Berks County Medical Society, a regularly appointed delegate to the Pennsylvania Medical Society, and he was certified as a specialist by the American Board of Family Practice. For relaxation and delight, he enjoyed fishing, cooking, the theatre, collecting wine, and good music. He played the violin in his earlier years. He was actively involved with the South Mountain YMCA and their international committee as well as serving on the board of the E.C.C. Retirement Village in Myerstown. In addition to his wife, he is survived by four sons, Arlington A. Nagle, Jr. husband of Susan E. of Ambler, Allen J. Nagle of Robesonia, companion of Leslie Patterson, Phillip J. Nagle, husband of Susan L. of New Brighton, and Dr. Karl T. Nagle, husband of Jaime L. of Freehold, N.J.; a daughter, Anna M., wife of Jerry G. Rabold of Robesonia; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Visitation with the family will be Monday April 19 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Lamm & Witman Funeral Home, Wernersville. Services will be private at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, Dr. Nagle's wishes were to ask that donations be made to the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine at PENN Medicine, Office of Alumni Development and Alumni Relations, 3535 Market St., Suite 750, Philadelphia, PA 19104; to Moravian College in memory of Dr. Nagle at Moravian College, Office of Development, 1200 Main St., Bethlehem, PA 18018; and the South Mountain YMCA, P.O.
