Charles Neiswender, Jr., 82, died Thursday, October 14, 2010. He was the husband of Nancy A. (Kapp) Neiswender, to whom he would have been married 65 years on August 31, 2011. Born in Myerstown, on June 11, 1928, he was the son of the late Charles, Sr. and Eva (Kercher) Neiswender. He was a 1946 graduate of Richland High School and attended Lebanon Valley College. He graduated from Lancaster Theological Seminary in 1962, attended a school of Town & Country Pastors for three summers at Michigan State University, and spent one year as Student Assistant of the Up-Lyn Group Ministry in Elizabethville. He served as Pastor of Friedens U.C.C. Church in Lenhartsville from 1962-1969; as Pastor of Tulpehocken (Trinity) U.C.C. Church, Richland, from 1969-1990; and as Minister of Visitation for St. Mark's U.C.C. Church, Lebanon, from 1990-1997. where he was a member and retired as Pastor Emeritus. He served the United Church of Christ at local and denominational levels. At the Association level, he served on many committees and as Association President. On the Conference level, he served on many committees and attended General Synod as a Conference Delegate. He served on the Board of Managers of Bethany Children's Home, Womelsdorf, for 16 years, several of those years as the Board's President. He also served on the Board for Phoebe-Devitt Home, Allentown. In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughters, Cathy, wife of Lynn George of Jamesville, N.Y., and Carla, wife of Scott Dietrich of Albuquerque, N.M.; sons, Paul, husband of Julie Spielmann Neiswender of Hartford, Wis., and Philip, husband of Margie Ritchie Neiswender of Pottstown; five grandchildren, Tara, wife of Jon Wing of Jamesville, N.Y., Laura, wife of Zachary Dineen of Jamesville, N.Y., Peter George of Jamesville, N.Y., and Aidan and Riley Neiswender of Pottstown; five great-grandchildren, Brady, Parker, and Logan Wing of Jamesville, N.Y., and Gavin and Bryce Dineen of Jamesville, N.Y.; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by sisters, Geraldine Derr, Dorothy Ulrich, and Arlene Moyer; and brother, Linwood Neiswender. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. from Tulpehocken U.C.C., 961 Tulpehocken Road, Richland. Viewing Wednesday from 9 to 11 am. at the church. Interment in the adjoining church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Church World Service, 28606 Phillips St., Elkhart, IN 46515. Grose Funeral Home, Myerstown, is entrusted with the arrangements.
