M. shabodeho@aol.com June 12, 2010, 2:59 pm Published in Lebanon Daily News on June 10, 2010 Mary Lou Nies Mary Lou Nies PALMYRA Mary Lou Nies, 67, passed away Tuesday, June 8, 2010. She was born and raised in Harrisburg, where she was a graduate of William Penn High School, class of 1961. Mary Lou retired from the Commonwealth of PA where she worked for Labor and Industry as a bindery worker. A truly devoted mother and grandmother, her life revolved around her family. She never missed an event her grandsons were part of. Grandma was a chauffeur, caregiver, and grass stain getter-outer! She will remain in our hearts forever and will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her daughter, Tracey Guillory, and her grandsons, Taylor and Zachary Caley, all of Palmyra; her sisters, Pauline Shadel of Palmyra, Doris Gentzel of Centre Hall, Janet Tobias of New Bloomfield, and Shirley Mowers of Harrisburg; brothers, Roger of Harrisburg and Donald of Enola; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is also survived by Sandra Ream of Palmyra, who was like a sister to her. Preceding her in death were her mother, Cleidtha Beidelman Nies, her father, Charles F. Nies, as well as a sister, Nancy, all of Harrisburg. Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Rothermel Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 25 W. Pine St., Palmyra, 17078 with Pastor Douglas Pyszka officiating. Family and friends are invited for viewing from 10 a.m. until time of the service. Burial will follow in Gravel Hill Cemetery, Palmyra. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her honor to PA Breast Cancer Coalition, 344 N. Reading Road, Ephrata, PA 17522; or Autism Society, P.O. Box 101, Enola, PA 17025.
