  John E. Painter, Sr. HERSHEY John Edward Painter, Sr., 71, passed away 
  peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Friday, January 1, 2010, at his 
  home. He was born Saturday, March 5, 1938, in Lebanon, to the late Harry R. and 
  Mary (Yiengst) Painter. He was a veteran of the U.S .Army, member of Palmyra 
  Brethren in Christ Church, and retired welder. He is survived by his loving 
  wife, Brenda J. (Witmeyer) Painter; three sons, John E. Painter, Jr. and wife, 
  Barbara of Palmyra, Kenneth L. Witmeyer of Palmyra, and Gary E. Painter, Sr. 
  and wife, Christina of Hummelstown; two daughters, Tracy A. Rohland of Lebanon, 
  and Billie J. Crawford and husband, Glen of Grantville; two sisters, Mary L. 
  Tobias and husband, Elmer, and Jane Painter of Palmyra; one brother, Kenneth 
  Painter and wife, Lois of Richland; 11 grandchildren; and four 
  greatgrandchildren. He was predeceased by two brothers, Harry J. Painter and 
  Richard Painter; and two sisters, Annabell Peters and Kathryn Whitman. Funeral 
  services will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. at Rothermel Funeral Home & Cremation 
  Services, Inc., 25 W. Pine St., Palmyra. Family and friends are invited for a 
  time of viewing on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and again on Thursday from 9 a.m. 
  until time of the service. Burial with full military honors will follow in 
  Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.
