Peiffer, 96, died Monday, December 27, 2010, in the Lebanon VA Medical Center. He was the husband of Eva E. Boeshore Peiffer to whom he was married for 67 years. He was born in Lebanon on July 4, 1914, son of the late John E. and Carrie E. Fessler Peiffer. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII as a 1st Class Gunners Mate and fought during the D-Day invasion. He previously was employed at Foodland (N. 7th St.) where he retired as a clerk after 24 years of service. Mr. Peiffer was a member of Kimmerling's Church, Lebanon and the American Legion. He was an avid Phillies fan who enjoyed bowling and golfing. For 26 years he was the coordinator at Blue Mt. View Sr. Golf League. Jim was also the secretary for the Lebanon Co. Church bowling league for over 40 years then was the secretary for the Silver Hair Daddies Bowling League. He was inducted into the LDBA Hall of Fame for service in 1992. In addition to his wife he is survived by his son, James I. Peiffer, Mt. Joy; daughters, Donna wife of William Rolon, Lebanon; Karen wife of Maurice Caldwell, Harrisburg; Beth wife of Robert Boltz, Jonestown; nine grandchildren; 14 great- grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by brothers, John and Charles Peiffer; sisters, Irene Kugler, Ethel Miller, Carrie Peiffer, Pearl Emerich and Lorraine Peiffer. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 2 p.m. in Kimmerling's Church, 1 Jacob's Dr., Lebanon where a viewing will begin at 12:30 p.m. until the time of the service. Interment will be made in the adjoining cemetery.In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Lebanon VA Hospice Unit, 1700 S. Lincoln Ave., Bldg 1, Lebanon, PA 17042. The Rohland Funeral Home, Lebanon is handling the arrangements.
