M. shabodeho@aol.com October 2, 2010, 12:32 pm Published in Lebanon Daily News on September 28, 2010 Rhea H. Putnam HOLIDAY, FL Mr. Rhea H. Putnam passed away recently in Tampa, Fla. He was married for 56 years to the former Martha Albert, Myerstown. Born on July 13, 1921, in Lyons, N.Y., to the late Leona and Thea D. Putnam, he served as a 2nd lieutenant in the Army Air Corps in WWII. He is a graduate of Iowa State University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and worked for GE in N.Y., Shell Oil, Tapline in Beirut, Lebanon, and ARAMCO in Saudi Arabia for 25 years. He designed the first pipeline from the Persian Gulf to the Mediterranean Sea. He retired in 1980 and settled in Exmore, Va., on the Eastern Shore, where he was active in the Franktown United Methodist Church in Nassawadox, Va., until he and his wife recently moved to Holiday, Fla. Rhea loved sailing and racing his sailboat, football, golf, baseball, scuba diving, tennis, swimming and flying. From the 1950's to the 1990's, he owned 100 acres with a cabin on Green Lake in Ardoch, Ontario. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Pamela Moeller and her husband, Lee of Clear Lake, Iowa, and Lyn Heinz of Tampa, Fla.; two sons, Stephen of Lyndonville, Vt., and Peter and his wife, Jane of Andover, Mass. Honoring his name are 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and his borther-in-law, and sister-in-law, Paul and Alice Albert of Myerstown. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Goldie Endicott; daughter, Penelope Ann Putnam; brothers, Roger and Gordon; and sister, Mary Lytle. A Memorial Service was held at Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church, Tampa, Fla.
