"The Hat" Rank, 83, passed away on Monday, April 19, 2010, at the Lebanon VA Medical Center. He was the husband of the late Mae Louise Bohn Rank. Born in Bethel Twp., on September 22, 1926, he was the son of the late J. Henry and Edna Mae Schlappig Rank. He retired in 1986 after 43 years working with The Hershey Co. in the Quality Assurance Dept. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII. Mr. Rank was the recipient of numerous soccer awards. He received two EP & D service awards, the Lebanon-Lancaster H.S. Award, the 35 and 50 year award for P.I.A.A., and a referee award was named after him. He was inducted into the Achievement Award Hall of Fame in 1986, the Pennsylvania Coaches Hall of Fame in 2002, the Capital Area Hall of Fame in 2003, and the National Soccer Hall of Fame in 2007. He received a Letter of Commendation in 1982 and the Life NISOA Service Award in 2004. The Governor awarded him the Capital Service Award for his 50 years of service. He is survived by his sons, Dr. Bruce H., husband of Cindy Rank of Dayton, Ohio, Craig N., husband of Karin Rank of Harrisburg, and Dean W., husband of Kristen Rank of Charlotte, N.C.; two nieces, Roxanne Gardner of Tyler, Texas, and Wendy Bowman of Rineyville, Ky.; a sister, Mary Alice, wife of Richard Daub of Palmyra; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. at the St. John's United Church of Christ, Jonestown. No viewing. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. At the convenience of the family, the interment will be in the Zion's Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery, Jonestown. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made in honor of Harry Rank to the Campbelltown- Palmyra Youth Soccer Club, P.O. Box 545, Palmyra, PA 17078.
