Richard WOMELSDORF Lynn Gingrich Richard, 85, passed away Wednesday morning, November 17, 2010, of natural causes at the Hershey Medical Center following a brief illness. His wife is the former Geneva Shepherd, with whom he had celebrated his 64th wedding anniversary on April 10, 2010. Born on October 20, 1925, in Fredericksburg, he was the son of the late Elmer Saul and Kathryn (Gingrich) Richard. A United States Army veteran, Mr. Richard proudly served his country during World War II as a Sergeant in their Military Police Detachment. Lynn worked in the poultry business throughout most of his life, eventually retiring from Longacre Poultry, Franconia. He was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Womelsdorf. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, June Matthews; and two brothers, Glenn and Dale E. Richard. Surviving, along with his wife, are his children, Michael, husband of Anita Richard of Orlando, Fla., Dr. Kathryn Meyer and her husband, Dr. Carl of Greenville, Mark and his wife, Carol Richard of Harleysville, Marsha Wisler and her husband Charles, Boyertown, Michelle Bateman and her husband, Jack of Stouchburg, and Melynda Tate of Womelsdorf; 26 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Nita Richard and Mary Ann Hernley, both of Fredericksburg. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, November 21, 2010, at 6 p.m. at the Hetrick- Mull Funeral Home, Inc., 27 E. High St., Womelsdorf, with the Rev. J. Robert Kehrli, Pastor Emeritus of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, officiating. Interment will be private and held at the convenience of the family in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, where full military honors will be accorded. Family and friends may call on Sunday at the funeral home from 4 p.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Lynn's memory to Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church Building Fund, 300 W. High St., Womelsdorf, PA 19567.
