M. shabodeho@aol.com May 29, 2010, 1:11 pm Published in Lebanon Daily News on May 27, 2010 Jean Royer Jean Royer LEBANON Jean Royer, a mother of six and a founding partner in Royer's Flowers, died on Tuesday, May 25, 2010, at Holy Spirit Hospital after an illness of several months. She was born in Harrisburg, on April 29, 1931, and was the daughter of the late Ralph and Violet (Kapp) Beckley. Jean moved with them to Lebanon while still a child and attended Lebanon City Schools. Jean was a very proud graduate of the LHS class of 1949. Jean is survived by her husband, Kenneth Royer, to whom she was married for 58 years, and a sister, Nancy Blouch. Jean served as Office Manager of Royer's Flowers for 39 years and retired in 1988. While managing the office for the growing flower business, she also gave birth to six children, Rebecca Fuchs of Lancaster, now married to Dr. David Fuchs, William Royer of Lafayette Hills, now married to Joyce, Thomas Royer of Hummelstown, now married to Cindy, Gregory Royer of Lancaster, now married to Amy, Michael Royer of Lebanon, now married to Julie, and Jonathan Royer of Mechanicsburg, now married to Tammy. The Lebanon Church of The Brethren, where Jean was a member, was an important part of her life for over 50 years. She was a regular member of the choir and served on many boards and committees including Chairman of the Board. One of her most cherished honors was that of "Woman of the Year" bestowed on her by the Women's Fellowship of the church. Jean also served on the Board of Directors of The Lebanon Valley Brethren Home in Palmyra for many years and the Lebanon Community Concert board. In later years much of Jean's time was spent nurturing her family and keeping track of her growing flock of 18 grandchildren: Becky's children, Meg Hastings, Emily, Martha, and David Fuchs; Tom's children, Layla Perozzi, Meredith, Mallory, Tom, Sumer, and Brooke Royer; Greg's children, Geoffrey, Andrew, and Gregory Royer, Jr.; Mike's children, Hannah, Matthew, and Evan Royer; Jon's children, Grant and Haley Royer; and her first great-grandchild, Elijah Royer, son of Andrew. There will be a Celebration of Life memorial service at the Lebanon Church of the Brethren, 4th and Locust Sts., on Saturday, June 5, at 3 p.m. Visitation with the family will begin at 1:30 p.m. A private funeral and burial at Midway Church of the Brethren cemetery will be held at the convenience of the family. Kreamer Funeral Home and Crematory, Annville, is handling arrangements.
