Sanders, 69, died Tuesday, February 9, 2010, at the Good Samaritan Hospital, Lebanon. He was the husband of Carol A. Gallup Sanders, to whom he was married 45 years on September 13, 2009. Born in Lebanon, on January 27, 1941, he was the son of the late Walter R. and Loye E. (Nye) Sanders. He was a 1960 graduate of Lebanon High School and served in the U.S. Navy during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He worked as a ceiling man at Standard Acoustics, Lancaster. He was a member of the Tri-County Worship Center, Bethel, where he played the bass guitar and a was member of the Tin Can Sailors. He coached midget football in Massachusetts and Pennsylvania over 30 years. In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughters, Maria, wife of Neil Umberger of Cleona, and Michelle, wife of Peter Teasdale of Jonestown; sons, Walter husband of Kristy Sanders of Jonestown, Shane, husband of Angie Sanders of Lancaster, and Douglas Sanders of Jonestown; grandchildren, Candice, Nicole, Colette, and Corey; brother, Jack, husband of Eileen Sanders of Gretna Springs; and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, February 17, 2010, at 4 p.m. from the Tri-County Worship Center, Bethel. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Tri County Worship Center, 1501 Schubert Road, Bethel, PA 19507. Grose Funeral Home, Myerstown, is in charge of arrangements.
