Shattls, 93, died Friday, February 19, 2010, in ManorCare Lebanon. He was the husband of Olga M. Howse Shattls, with whom he celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary in October 2009. He was born in Lebanon, on June 28, 1916, son of the late Julius and Nettie Katz Shattls. He was a self-employed grocer at the coroner of 8th and Guilford Sts. until the early 1980s. He served as a Master Sergeant in the Army during WWII. He served in the European Theatre as an aide to General Eisenhower and had been in charge of supplies for the whole Theatre. He was a member of Congregation Beth Israel, Lebanon; DAV Commanders Club; Jewish War Vets; Palmyra American Legion; the 40 & 8 Society; and the United Associated Grocers. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are son, Frederick J. and wife, Bernadine Shattls of Lebanon; daughter, Trudy J. Shattls of Lebanon; three grandchildren; two greatgrandchildren; and cousins. He was preceded in death by brother, George Shattls, and sister, Anne Chernoff. Funeral services Sunday at 1 p.m. at Rohland Funeral Home, Inc., 5th and Cumberland Sts., Lebanon.
