  Boyd R. Sherman 
  
  LEBANON Boyd R. Sherman lost his battle with cancer and passed away on Monday, 
  September 13, 2010, at his granddaughter's home in North Carolina, with family 
  by his side. He was born July 20, 1932, in Lebanon, the son of the late Aaron 
  B. and Verna Gettle Sherman. He was preceded in death by two sisters, one 
  brother, and his grandson, Bradley. Boyd graduated from Lebanon High School in 
  1950. He then served 20 years in the U.S. Navy, retiring August 1, 1971, with 
  the rank of Chief Warrant Officer 2. Following his time in the Navy, Boyd 
  worked as a manager at Hersheypark, in charge of mechanicals. He later worked 
  as a carpenter, building homes for Olin Miller. Boyd was a loving and devoted 
  father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He was a 
  compassionate and caring man, who would go out of his way to help anyone in 
  need. He was especially fond of all of the young children in his life. He 
  always took the time to spoil them with love and attention, and would do 
  anything to make them happy. He was loved and adored by everyone who knew him, 
  and he will be missed by all. He leaves one sister, one brother, five children, 
  12 grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren to cherish their memories of 
  him. A service to celebrate his life will be held at Thompson's Funeral Home in 
  Lebanon at 9:45 a.m. Tuesday. The family will receive visitors prior to the 
  service beginning at 9 a.m. The burial will be held at 11 a.m. at Indiantown 
  Gap National Cemetery. Immediately following will be a gathering of family and 
  friends at Memorial Lake, where Boyd loved to go fishing.
