'Snake' Simonetti, 79, formerly of Hershey, entered the kingdom of heaven on Saturday, February 27, 2010, surrounded by his loving family. His wife, the late M. Dorothy Simonetti, passed away on May 2, 2008. Born in Hershey, on November 30, 1930, Geno was the son of the late Emidio and Assunta V. (Lupi) Simonetti. Known affectionately to friends and family as 'Snake', he was a graduate of Hershey High School and was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War. In the service, he held the rank of Sergeant and was a boxer. After 35 years of employment, Geno retired from Armstrong World Industries in Lancaster. He loved all sports, especially football and golf. An avid fan of Thoroughbred Horse Racing, Geno at one time owned his own race horse at Penn National. He also enjoyed cooking. Geno was an unselfish man who loved to give and anyone who knew him was blessed. Surviving is a daughter, Angelena M., wife of Peter F. Kitsch of Lititz; three stepdaughters: Suzanne E., wife of Jim Bomgardner of Ephrata, Pamela S., wife of Ron Stefanacci of Sterling, Va., and Gina M., wife of Mike Devlin of Ephrata; two stepsons, Tommy Wenger of Sterling, Va., and Scott E. Wenger, husband of Jan of Ephrata; grandson, Nickolas J. Earhart; 12 other grandchildren; seven great- grandchildren; and a sister, Lucy M. Heisey of Hershey. Geno was preceded in death by two sisters, Erma Hurley and Mary Simonetti; and a brother, Louis J. Simonetti. Funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family and are under the care of Paul L. Gravenor Home For Funerals, Inc., Ephrata.
