    John C. Smith Jr. 
 
    John C. Smith, Jr. WEST CHESTER John C. Smith, Jr., 88, formerly of Newtown
  Square, died Thursday, April 1, 2010, at Neighborhood Hospice, West Chester. He
  was the husband of Jean (Kitchen) Smith. Born September 2, 1921, in Berwyn, he
  was the son of the late John C., Sr. and Mabel (Kelly) Smith. Mr. Smith
  graduated from Lebanon Valley College. He served in the U.S. Navy in the
  Pacific Theatre as a Carpenters Mate Third Class in WWII. He was employed as a
  Purchasing Manager at Philadelphia Suburban Water Co., retiring in 1989. In
  addition to his wife, Jean of Hersheys Mill, he is survived by a son, John
  Smith, III of Lebanon; stepchildren, Susan Troisi, George B. Grey, III, Amy
  Grey Lanza, and Douglas W. Grey; 11 grandchildren; and sisters, Lois Stewart
  and Sarah Scott. A memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, April
  6, at Newtown Square Presbyterian Church, Newtown Square, with the Rev. Lydia
  Rappaport officiating. Interment will be at The Baptist Church of Great Valley,
  Devon. Arrangements are by Frank C. Videon Funeral Home, Broomall. Memorial
  contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association , c/o Alicia Dunchak,
  Radisson Towers, First Ave., King of Prussia, PA 19406.
