Hershey Medical Center at 12:27 p.m. Tuesday, June 8, 2010, of breast cancer. She was only 57 years old, born on September 19, 1952. She resided at 450 S. Lancaster St., since October 1, 1985, and opened the area's first horse boarding stables, named "Triple S Stables & Supplies." Born in Tennessee, and raised in Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late George and Lena Whitworth Taylor. She met her husband, Command Sergeant Major (U.S. Army Retired) Bruce S. Smith, stationed at Fort Knox, Ky., in November 1974, and they were married June 7, 1975, in Brandenburg, Ky. Her 35th wedding anniversary was June 7, 2010, the day before her death. Diane recently re-opened her craft shop at her residence named "Diane's Little Shop of Treasures," but had to close now and then due to her health. She also named the farm, owned by her and her husband, "Nee-Hi Farm and Kennel" because all the horses, Australian Shepherds, and other animals are knee high. She and her horse Shashonte, whom she really loved, are now back together as a winning barrel racing team. Diane was a qualified Emergency Medical Technician, Life Squad Member, and Medical Director with the Bunker Hill Fire Company for many years. She was a very caring and compassionate lady who always set her goals high, never complained about anything, and was always there for anyone day or night. She will be sadly missed by her husband Bruce, and a multitude of friends. She is survived by her husband, CSM (Ret.) Bruce S. Smith; brothers, Larry Miller of Kentucky and George Taylor of Tennessee; a niece, Tara Nicholas of Tennessee and family. Memorial services will be held on Sunday, June 13, 2010, at 4 p.m. at the Kreamer & Lum Funeral Home & Crematory, Rt. 72 and Camp Meeting Road, Jonestown, and at her home on Saturday at 4 p.m. This will be a covered dish event to honor her life. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Lebanon County, 150 N. Ramona Road, Myerstown, PA 17067. I love you Diane!
