Snavely, Jr., 73, passed away on Tuesday, October 12, 2010, at his home. He was the husband of Anita D. Smith Snavely. On February 18, 2010, they celebrated their 47th wedding anniversary. Born in Lebanon, on August 20, 1937, he was the son of the late Leonard and Anna Templin Snavely. In 1981 he retired from the 121st Army National Guard after nine years of active duty and 11 years serving in the guards. He had also worked for the former Cleaver Brooks in Lebanon and for Rice & Weidman Construction in Lancaster. He was a member of the Lickdale and Bunker Hill Fire Companies, the Auxiliary Fire Police, the Lebanon Co. Fire Police, the Hershey Chocolatiers Drum and Bugle, and the 40 & 8. For several years he served as Swatara Twp. Constable and was with the 93rd Civil War Reenactors. He enjoyed woodworking and especially spending time with his grandchildren. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Jestine M., wife of Dr. Michael E. Andrews of Lebanon; son, Leonard F. Snavely, III of Rapid City, S.D.; sister, Kathryn Hartman of Lebanon; and grandchildren, Michael E. Andrews, II, Claire Andrews, Kyle Snavely, and Jamie Dillon. He was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Kern. Memorial services will be held on Thursday at 1 p.m. at the Kreamer & Lum Funeral Home & Crematory, Rt. 72 and Camp Meeting Road, Jonestown. Inurnment will be at the Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Lickdale Fire Co., 3071 SR-72, Jonestown, PA 17038; or to the American Diabetes Association , 3544 N.
