Snyder, 85, of 25 Cove Road, formerly of Frystown, ended her earthly journey on Wednesday, July 7, 2010, by peacefully passing on at the Kinkora Pythian Home, Duncannon. She was the widow of George G. Snyder, Jr., who died in 1987. Born in Bethel, she was the daughter of the late Henry Frantz and Mabel (Brown) Keeney. She was a graduate of Bethel High School. She had been a baker for Rudy's Bakery, Fredericksburg, from 1943-1945; a telephone operator for the Bethel-Mt. Aetna Telephone Co. from 1953-1961; and along with her husband, operated Snyder's Store in Frystown from 1963-1977. She retired in 1987 after 17 years as a rural mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service, Myerstown. She was a member of Little Swatara Church of the Brethren, Bethel, where she served as youth advisor for several years. Throughout her life, Becky was a people person as displayed through her vocational and volunteer choices. Her zest for life was contagious. She held numerous offices in the National Assn. of Federal Retired Employees, Blue Mountain 50 Plus Club, and the Farm Women Group 2 of Bethel, where she had been a charter member. She was also a member of the Goodwill Fire Co. #1, Myerstown, and the Bethel High School Alumni Assn. She was an avid bowler and participated in several national tournaments. She enjoyed teaching others the joy of crocheting, quilting, and various other crafts. Wherever good music could be found, she was there, from Barbershop Quartets to Elvis shows. She loved four part harmony. She had a marvelous sense of humor, a unique laugh, and a joy of living. She was a loving and devoted wife and mother and is survived by daughters, Thelma, wife of John Nelson of Raleigh, N.C., Darlene, wife of James Rockett of Lebanon, and Felicia, wife of James Summy of Duncannon; grandchildren, Thea Offutt of North Carolina, Drew Nelson of North Carolina, Matthew Rockett of Houston, Texas, Daniel Rockett of Shippensburg, Allison Summy of Duncannon, Jennifer Summy of Duncannon, and Michelle Summy of Duncannon; greatgrandchildren, George and Evan Rockett of Houston, Texas; brother, Orwin Keeney of Frystown; and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, July 13, 2010, at 7:30 p.m. from Little Swatara Church of the Brethren, 31 Rehrersburg Road, Bethel. A visitation will be held Tuesday from 6:15 to 7:15 p.m. at the church. Interment will be at the convenience of the family. Grose Funeral Home, Myerstown, is in charge of arrangements.
