  Alice S. Spayd PALMYRA Alice (Shirk) Spayd, 94, of the Lebanon Valley Brethren 
  Home, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 14, 2010, with loving family by 
  her side. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 75 years, George H. 
  Spayd, on May 1, 2007. She was born Sunday, September 5, 1915, in Lebanon 
  County, to the late Ernest C. and Olive V. (Miller) Shirk. She was a member of 
  Salem United Church of Christ, Campbelltown, and lifetime member of LVBH 
  Auxiliary. She and her husband owned George H. Spayd Machinery Builder, 
  Rebuilder & Converter Company. She was foster mother to numerous children, was 
  a member of PA Society for Clinical Nutrition and associated member of American 
  Nutrition Society. She is survived by a daughter, Georgann A. Kunkel; three 
  grandchildren, Alice Falkenstein, Richard and Robert Kunkel; two 
  greatgrandchildren; two sisters, Kathryn Allwein and Florence Spindler; and 
  numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. 
  at Rothermel Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 25 W. Pine St., Palmyra, 
  with the Rev. Dwight C. Hein officiating. Family and friends are invited for 
  viewing from 10 a.m. until time of the service. Burial will follow in Mount 
  Annville Cemetery, Annville. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be 
  made in her honor to Pinnacle Health Hospice, 2645 N. Third St., Suite 300, 
  Harrisburg, PA 17110; or Artificial Organ & Health Research Division, c/o M.S. 
  Hershey Medical Center, 500 University Drive, Hershey, PA 17033.
